Eric Schugars
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Schugars is a native of Muskegon, Michigan, and received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and his Master's degree from Central Michigan University. This is Eric's tenth season as Varsity Head Coach and 23rd season with the Trojan Football program. Under Coach Schugars, the Trojans have gone 71-27, winning five conference championships, three District Championships, and two Regional Championships, with one State Runner-Up finish in 2021. He currently teaches Economics and Civics at Traverse City Central High School. Eric is married to his beautiful wife, Carissa; together they have three children, two daughters, Hayden (16) and Teagan (10), and a son, Talan (15). He attributes his love for coaching to his father, Jack, a Hall of Fame coach and three-time state champion at Muskegon Oakridge High School.
Mike Gle

Coach Gle is entering his 19th year as part of the TC Central football coaching staff. He is also entering his 19th year as a teacher at TC Central High School where he teaches Weights and Conditioning. Coach Gle is a graduate of Brighton High School (97) and Hope College ('02) where he was a member of two MIAA Championship teams and set school records for touchdown receptions. He and his wife Taffetta have three sons, Trent (16), Tripp (13), and Cade (11).

Strength & Conditioning Coordinator
Coach Doug Gle is a 24-year veteran of the TC Central coaching staff and a teacher at TCC for the past 23 years. He graduated from Hope College where he played football and holds a Master's Degree from Western Michigan University in Exercise Science. He is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USA weightlifting club coach, and previously worked as a strength and conditioning coach at Eastern Michigan and the University of Northern Iowa. He was the 2020 National High School Strength and Conditioning Association Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year. Coach Gle and his wife, Dawn, have three children. Carter (16, Varsity team #2), Brady (14, Freshman team #8) and Megan (12).
Jack Schugars

Special Teams Coach
Coach Jack Schugars is a Muskegon High School Alumni, and Western Michigan University and Michigan State University graduate. Jack coached for 42 years at Muskegon Oakridge High School and one year at Grand Rapids Community College. For the past 10 years, Jack has been Special Teams Coordinator for the Ferris State Bulldogs who won back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022. Jack's wife of 49 years, Julie, tragically passed away in August of 2020. Jack and Julie raised two children, Eric (Carissa) Head Traverse City Central Football Coach, and Amanda (Matt) Lynn, and have the blessing of 6 grandchildren. 2024 begins Jack's 56th year of coaching.

Coach Tester is entering his 24th year coaching varsity football. He graduated from Traverse City Central in 1996 and Hope College in 2000. He and his wife Katie have three children: Tillman (15), Elonica (13), and Traeton (11).
Konrad Visser

Coach Visser is entering his 37th year coaching football. He is also an assistant Track coach at TC Central. Coach Visser and his wife Diana have two children, Franciska and Christopher.

Coach Royston graduated from Central High School (‘21) and is in his 3rd year of coaching in the football program. As a Liberty University alumni (‘24), this will be his first year teaching U.S. History at Central. Coach Royston takes immense pride in the tradition and success of both the football program and the school itself. He deeply believes in football’s ability to teach young men the lessons they need to succeed in life.

Marlin Starkey
Varsity Defensive Line Coach
Born in Marquette MI, Coach Marlin Starkey was raised in Traverse City from age 3 until 15 when his family moved back to Marquette where he graduated in 1996. After graduating, he moved back to Traverse City and in 1998, joined the United States Air Force. In 2003 he separated from the service and moved to Wisconsin where he and his family lived for 9 years. In 2007, Marlin started his coaching career as a 7th-grade football coach and by 2011 had moved up to the Varsity level where he was a part of a Division 5 State Championship for the Wrightstown Tigers. After 9 years in Wisconsin, Marlin moved back “home” to lower Michigan and began coaching for the Elk Rapids Elks in 2013 where he stayed until the season's end in 2023. Throughout his time in Elk Rapids, Marlin coached the Defensive Line, Running Backs, Offensive Line, Linebackers, and the Secondary. He was the Offensive Coordinator for the Elks for a season before going back to his love of defense as the Defensive Coordinator in 2022 and 2023. Aside from coaching, Marlin is a business owner of Patriot Auto Glass and Recalibration. He has been married to Alese for 4 years and has a son, Marlin James (22), a daughter Arianah (19), and two stepdaughters Madison (27) and Sophia (21). Marlin is also a grandpa to two grandbabies, Mabel (2) and Rocco (1).
Matt Brayton

Coach Brayton is in his first year coaching. He graduated from Traverse City Central in 1997. He played college football at Central Michigan from 1997 to 2002 as a 4-year starter and left tackle. Matt is married to his wife Barbi and they have four children Elyse (18), Marin (16), Brooke (14), and Maisy (11).
Evan Windholz

Coach Windholz is in his eleventh season as an assistant coach in the Trojan Football Program. He has a great passion for football and believes in the valuable life lessons it teaches young men. Coach Windholz is married to Karen and is the father of Alex, who is in his sixth year at Michigan State University, and Kathryn, who is a junior at TCC.
Justin McMurren

Coach M is entering his second season with the TC Central football coaching team. He was born and raised in Saginaw, MI, and is an alumnus of Heritage High School ('18). After graduating from high school, he attended Olivet College, where he played football as a middle linebacker and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science ('23). Coach Justin also has previous coaching experience at Nouvel Catholic Central High School and as the Defensive Coordinator for the Saginaw Legacy travel team. Coach Justin looks forward to helping develop the fundamental skills of all our athletes and providing them with the proper training and exposure for their football careers.
Mike Kolanowski

Coach Kolanowski enters his 14th season coaching football and his 8th season as the Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator. This fall Coach K will enter his 10th year in teaching and currently is a Physical Education and Health Teacher within Tcaps. Mike graduated from Manistee High School (‘04) and Hope College (‘09) with a B.A. in Physical Education/ Kinesiology, and a double minor in Health and Psychology Education. Coach K played college football at Hope College as a linebacker and punter. He lives in Williamsburg with his wife Lauren and their (7) year-old son Brady.
Matt Dorman

Coach Dorman graduated from Davenport University and is entering his 8th year as a youth football coach. He is also entering his 3rd year at Northwest Ed as a para pro for the Power Equipment program. Coach Dorman is an avid football fan and thoroughly enjoys teaching and coaching the game. Matt and his wife Nancy have four children, Noah (17), Lucas (15), and 12-year-old twins, Maya and Aidan.
Alec Moulton

Coach Moulton is in his seventh season with the TC Central football coaching staff. He was born and raised in Midland, MI. After graduating from high school, he attended Western Michigan University, playing football as a wide receiver for four years, and graduating with a finance degree. Coach Moulton is a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Traverse City.
Will Livingston

William Livingston has been a part of the Traverse City Central football staff since 1999. This is his 11th season as the Head freshman football coach. Will is a former player and student at Traverse City Senior High. Currently, Will teaches Special Education and Geometry at TC Central. Will and his wife Sarah have three children Elijah, Damon, and Lilah.
Kurt Neveau

Defensive Coordinator
Coach Neveau is in his ninth season on the TC Central football coaching staff. He works with the offensive line and serves as the defensive coordinator. Additionally, he has been a Special Education Teacher at TCC for eight years, following previous positions at TC West Senior High, East Middle School, and Northport Public School as a special education teacher. Coach Neveau holds a degree in secondary education from Saginaw Valley State University and a degree in special education from Ferris State University. While at Saginaw Valley State University, he was a member of two GLIAC League Championship baseball teams. Kurt and his wife Lee have been married for 17 years and have three children: twin boys Alex and William (age 14) and a daughter named Delaney (age 10).
Adam BeVier

Coach BeVier is entering his third season with the TC Central Football program. For the last two seasons coach BeVier has been leading the Middle School levels. Adam and his wife Marika have one son Tripp.
Alex Windholz
Freshman O-line
D-line Coach
After eight years split between a finance degree at Michigan State and working for his family business of Critter Control down in Grand Rapids, Alex has moved back to his hometown of Traverse City to coach the offensive and defensive line for the TCC Freshman Football Team. No stranger to the program, Alex played Center and Defensive Tackle for Central from 2011 – 2015, finishing his high school career by winning the Big North Conference title with a 9-0 regular season, and is excited to bring his experience to the staff!
Amy Ream
Athletic Trainer for Trojan Football
Amy is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Sports Medicine degree. She is a Licensed Athletic Trainer and a Certified Athletic Trainer that is employed by Munson Medical Center. Through Munson, she has worked with the Traverse City Central Trojans for the last 36 years. Amy and her husband Rob have two daughters, Ondrea, and Sarah.

Sammy graduated from TC Central in 2021 and is beginning his fourth season assisting with the program.
